One week from tonight, the champion of the inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup tournament will be crowned on the field at Sun Life Stadium. On August 6th and 7th, all eight of the prestigious clubs from across Europe and the United States will call South Florida home as they compete for the International Champions Cup Trophy. We conclude our preview of the International Champions Cup participants this week by taking a look at the LA Galaxy, the only team from the United States participating in the tournament.

A crowd of 22,876 fans came out to Sun Life Stadium on Monday night for the only Miami Dolphins scrimmage of the year. The night opened with the first performance of the year by the 2013 Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders. Once the Dolphins hit the field, the team went through a routine pregame warm-up, followed by position work, 7 on 7 drills, special teams, and finally the inter-squad scrimmage. In addition to the action on the field, before and during practice, fans had the opportunity to receive autographs from former Miami Dolphins players and current Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders, pose for pictures in interactive photo stations, and participate in the Ford Football Experience.

The inaugural Guinness International Champions Cup officially kicked off yesterday as AC Milan traveled to Valencia for the tournament’s first game.  This marked the first time that the two historic clubs have ever met and is also the only game of the tournament to be held outside of the United States as it was held at Valencia’s home ground, Mestella. Robinho opened the scoring in the 20th minute for AC Milan to give them an early 1-0 lead.  Minutes later, De Jong would net another goal for Milan in the 36th minute, doubling the lead for the club, which would be the eventual game winning goal.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Gibson may be new to the team, but he is no stranger to football and Sun Life Stadium.  We caught up with him earlier this week to hear is thoughts on the upcoming Dolphins scrimmage Monday night, the Spain-Haiti soccer match in June, and the upcoming International Champions Cup.  Here’s what he had to say: SLS: What should fans expect at the first inter-squad scrimmage under the lights at Sun Life Stadium? On Monday, July 29, the Miami Dolphins will hold the Back to Football Powered South Florida Ford evening practice at Sun Life Stadium.  The first night practice of the season will also feature the team’s first inter-squad scrimmage as they prepare for the Hall of Fame Game on August 4th against the Dallas Cowboys in Canton, Ohio. In addition to the action on the field, before and during practice, fans will have the opportunity to receive autographs from former Miami Dolphins players, pose for pictures in interactive photo stations, and participate in the Ford Football Experience.
