By: Tristin Jones Exotic cars, the sound of a roaring engine, free reign on an autocross course, high speeds, and you behind the wheel.  To quote Entourage, “Now is that something you might be interested in?” It’s called the Gotham Dream Car Sprint, and it’s happening at Sun life Stadium.  Before I elaborate on the experience, I want to emphasize that I am not, by any means, a car person.  I like to drive fast and I like the way cars look.

The best in drift racing are coming to South Florida, as the U.S. Drift Circuit makes its next stop at Sun Life Stadium on March 10, 2013. A driver “drifts” when he oversteers and loses control of the car’s rear wheels while retaining control of the front half of the car. Riders are typically judged not only on speed but also angle and line. Hear U.S. Drift Circuit’s Chris Jackson and official Tim Murphy discuss the growing sport of drift racing and what other entertainment is planned for Sunday’s event.

Lacrosse, long a regional sport, has enjoyed a recent surge in popularity, helping it spread from coast to coast and turning it into a national game. That evolution was evident at Sun Life Stadium on Saturday, March 2, as four of the nation’s top college lacrosse teams traveled to South Florida to participate in the 2nd annual Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic. The success of last year’s inaugural event – which featured some of the area’s top local high school programs and youth teams – as well as the sport’s continued rise locally led to the inclusion of the more physical, fast-paced college game, pushing the 2013 Orange Bowl Lacrosse Classic into full-blown showcase status.
