, which have now been deployed at Sun Life Stadium to enhance the mobile experience for fans during games and events. The additional network capacity and new services support call reliability and better network access so fans can benefit from near real-time stats, social networking, venue information, and more.
As a result of the agreement with AT&T, the 75,000+ seat Sun Life Stadium now has more than 1,100 Wi-Fi access points throughout the venue. New mapping strategies have led to a racetrack-like Wi-Fi deployment where access points are strategically placed under seats and snaked through railings to bring fans closer to a connection than ever before. In addition, an AT&T Distributed Antenna System (DAS) at the stadium is providing service equivalent to 16 individual cells sites. That’s enough coverage to support the same mobile traffic as a town the size of Kendall or Miami Beach. The two complementing network systems will make Sun Life one of the most connected stadiums in the country.
“AT&T is a critical technology partner for the Miami Dolphins, supporting connectivity and coverage so we can offer fans a great network experience,” said Tery Howard, Senior Vice President & Chief Technology Officer, Miami Dolphins. “We have a commitment from ownership to create a stimulating and interactive environment at all of the events at Sun Life Stadium including football, soccer, and concerts. These technological upgrades will definitely increase the fan experience in a way that will be easily recognizable to everyone who enters our stadium.”
AT&T also improved cellular network service through the completed installation of a DAS in January. DAS technology helps improve the reliability of wireless service within a structure such as a stadium.
“We are bringing fast and reliable mobile services to venues across the country to help support growing demand among sports fans and event-goers for a connected mobile experience,” said Carlos Blanco-Sposito, VP & General Manager- South Florida, AT&T. “The Miami Dolphins demonstrate the importance of ensuring their fans have a truly exciting mobile experience at Sun Life Stadium by turning to us for these services.”
